Her surname was spelled Biskupowska on her birth and marriage certificates; however, in some other documents it was spelled Biskupska.  In 1990 there were 2,674 persons with the name Biskupski living in Poland, while the Polish census did not register a Biskupowski. The surname of her husband recorded in their marriage certificate and in the birth certificates of their children was Snopek and not Snopczynski. Apparently, her son Edward decided to "gentrify" his surname from the simple peasant surname of Snopek to Snopczynski - a surname sounding like of a nobleman.
