(Agata Chmielak)

Agata Pieniazek married  Stanislaw (some family members remembered his name as Karol) Chmielak, a widower (stated in their marriage certificate) with three children.  Her stepson Antoni married her youngest sister, Rozalia Pieniazek.  When her brother Jozef and and her father Adam Pieniazek left Slup near Parysow (also known as Pienki) for Swoboda near Siennica, the two Chmielak families purchased the Pieniazek's farm and house.
During the Second Word War the Polish Home Army (AK) partisans executed the Garwolin County Commissioner (starosta).  It is interesting to add that the commanding officer of these AK partisans was Stefan Zajac from Parysow, a schoolmate of Feliks Chajewski and Szczepan Pieniazek from the Podlasie Bishop's Gymnasium in Siedlce.  After the war, Stefan Zajac worked in the Polish National Bank.  One of his soldiers was Antoni Chmielak mentioned above.
As a reprisal for the execution of the Garwolin County Commissioner, Germans decided to "pacify" Slup on February 7, 1943*.  As the buildings in the village of Slup were spread out and surrounded by forest, most people got away, but not Agata, who burned when Germans set fire to her house.  Her husband was shot by the Nazis in front of his house.
