On 29 January 1938 married his girlfriend from Oleszyce, Irena Melnyk, born 9 September, 1916 in Oleszyce, Poland, daughter of Grzegorz and Katarzyna, nee Symko. This was a civil marriage. According to family, she was Greek-Catholic (ethnic Ukrainian) and that this union was not well accepted by their respective families. They got a civil divorce by the Fourth Civil Chamber of the Court of the Seine on 7 July, 1947, registered on 25 November, 1947. According to family, during the Second World War, he was sent by Germans to work in Auschwitz (not in the death camp). After the War, he returned to France and traveled to Poland from 28 June 1947 to 22 August 1947 on a passport issued by the Polish Consul in Paris passing through the British Occupation Zone in Germany and through Czechoslovakia. His Polish passport was extended in 1948 and permitted a trip to Venezuela. He traveled by ship from Marseille, France. He sailed on January 15, 1949  and arrived on January 30, 1949. At first, he resided in Puerto La Cruz and from August 15, 1949 in Caracas where he worked in the Botanical Garden in Caracas (Jardin Botanico de la Ciudad Universitaria) as a gardener. In 1955 Frank emigrated to Canada, where he met his future wife, Sarah Jane McCain, born on 23 April 1916 in Toronto, Canada, daughter of William John and Mary Jane Walker of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. In Toronto, Frank worked at the Toronto Cricket Skating and Curling Club (on 141 Wilson Avenue) and at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club (1 Wellington Street West). Frank and Sarah (Sadie) moved to the US to join Frank's aunt, Maria Zeniuch, in Hartford. They were married at the South Church in Hartford Connecticut, USA on 12 December, 1958. Frank worked for many years in Hartford in Pearson's Greenhouses as a gardener. After retiring, he and Sadie moved to Danielson, Connecticut, where their life was blessed by friendship with Veronique and Montcalm (Moe) Mathurin and other friends. Frank was very close to his family in Poland. He helped them tremendously by sending money and parcels with clothing. Frank visited his family in Poland in 1967 (May 12, 1967 to June 9, 1967) and in 1974 (September 4, 1974 to October 15, 1974). His sister, Helena Nowakowska, nee Zeniuch visited him and her other relatives in the US in 1980. When his niece (Helena's daughter) Danuta Pieniazek, nee Nowakowska, moved to the US in 1986, she and her husband visited Frank several times; after his death, Danuta took care of his wife, Sadie.
